Nursery Problem in Vegetables
Damping-off Seedling: Damping-off diseases is common in all the vegetables which are raised through nursery. Disease occur in two phases
Pre-Emergence Phase : – FAliure of seedling emergence from the soll due to seed rot or killing of sprouting seedling.
Post-Emergence Phase: – Disease appaears as water soacked tissues at the bure of the stem. which become brown and consttructed with the advancement of the diseases and finaly result in the death of seedling in nursery
Disease of Leaves
Purple Blotch(Alternaria Porri):-
Small water soaked areas developed on the leaves or seed stalks, which turns brown. As the spot enlarge, it becomes zonate and purplish in color with dark purple or red-purple margin and is surrounded by yellow halo. The effected seed stalks break and fall down. The seed on the insected plants are less and shrivelled.

- 1st week April to 3rd week May(Onion Seed Crop)
- 4th week Feb. to 1st week Apr.(Garlic Crop).
Most Favorable disease period: –
- 4th week Apr. to 1st week May(Onion Purple Blotch)
- 2nd- 4th week Mar(Garlic Purple Blotch)
