Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalandhar (Uppal Jagir, Nurmahal) is situated about 40 kms from Ludhiana and 33 kms from Jalandhar district headquarter situated on the Lohian Khas- Nakodar- Ludhiana road with historical importance. Jalandhar was the capital of Punjab for India’s independence until Chandigarh was built in 1953. Jalandhar is situated at 710 31′ East and 300 33′ North at a distance of 146 kms from state capital Chandigarh. It is at a distance of 350 kms from Delhi on Delhi-Amritsar Highway. It is surrounded by Ludhiana district in East, Kapurthala in West, Hoshiarpur in North and Ferozepur in South. It is well connected by road and train. Nearest airport is Rajasansi Airport, Amritsar at a distance of 90 kms. It falls under the Central Agro-Climatic Zone of Punjab situated at a height of 247 m above mean sea level.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level institution engaged in transfer of latest agricultural technologies to the end users for bridging the gap between production and productivity. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nurmahal, Jalandhar is one of the such innovative institutions with the mandate of imparting various short term and vocational training to the practicing farmers, farm women, youth and extension functionaries. It aims to reduce the time lag between the generation of technology in the laboratories and its adoption at the farmer’s field for improving the agricultural conditions of the farming community as well as secondary beneficiaries of agriculture and allied fields.Since inception this KVK has been endeavouring for the upliftment of socio-economic condition of the farming community of the district through scientific intervention in the agricultural and allied sectors.With a decision of establishment of KVKs in all the rural districts during Tenth Plan, the qualitative improvement in the working of KVKs was envisaged through the mandate as: Technology assessment, refinement and demonstration of technology / products.
